Winter Film Series kicks off at the Paramount Theatre this week

The Kamloops Film Society is ready to present its first film series of 2018. The winter lineup gets underway Thursday, Jan. 11 with Faces Places, which was named Best Documentary by the New York Film Critics Circle.

Films will continue every Thursday at Paramount Theatre until Feb. 15. Showtimes are 7 p.m., weekly.

This year, the Film Society has raised its ticket prices to $10 for Series films. However, moviegoers no longer need to present a membership card at the door. Tickets are available at Movie Mart at 367 St. Paul St. and online.

Faces Places

Jan. 11, 7 p.m.
Documentary. Director: Agnès Varda, JR. Runtime: 90 minutes. Rating: PG.


Wonderstruck

Jan. 18, 7 p.m.
Director: Todd Haynes. Runtime: 116 minutes. Rating: PG. Starring: Julianne Moore, Oakes Fegley, Michelle Williams, Millicent Simmonds.


Rumble: The Indians Who Rocked the World

Jan. 25, 7 p.m.
Documentary. Director: Catherine Bainbridge. Runtime: 103 minutes. Rating: PG. Featuring: Charley Patton, Jimi Hendrix, Robbie Robertson, Redbone, Randy Castillo, Taboo.


Last Flag Flying

Feb. 1, 7 p.m.
Director: Richard Linklater. Runtime: 125 minutes. Rating: PG. Starring: Steve Carall, Brian Cranston, Laurence Fishbourne.


Killing of a Sacred Deer

Feb. 8, 7 p.m.
Director: Yorgos Lanthimos. Runtime: 121 minutes. Rating: PG. Starring: Colin Farrell, Nicole Kidman, Barry Keoghan, Alicia Silverstone.


The Other Side of Hope

Feb. 15, 7 p.m.
Director: Aki Kaurismäki. Runtime: 100 minutes. Rating: PG. Language: Finnish with English Subtitles. Starring: Sherwan Haji, Sakari Kuosmanen.
