Boyd’s annual Father’s Day Charity Car Show returning to Kelowna’s City Park this year

A wildly popular Kelowna event is prepared to return after two years off due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Organizers announced today that Boyd’s annual Father’s Day Car Show would be back at City Park from 11 am until 4 pm on Sunday, June 19.

“I wish I could tell you how excited everyone at Boyd is to be bringing the car show back,” said Methal Abougoush, GM at Boyd Autobody & Glass.

“This event means so much to us and so much to the community. We are proud to be a part of it. We’ve been patient and we can’t wait for June 19.”

There will be plenty of people who also have June 19 circled on their calendar after today’s announcement, as the free family event has become a huge hit over its two-decade history.

The goal of the event, organizers said, has always been quite simple.

It aims to provide a family-friendly event, surrounded by the driving force of automotive passion projects while raising funds and awareness for local, charitable partners.

“After a two-year hiatus, we are back and we’re sure you want to celebrate with us,” organizers exclaimed.

And as much as people will be excited to have the event back in June, it’s the local community that will truly benefit from its return.

The Father’s Day Car Show has raised over $142,000 for the Child Advocacy Centre over the last five years it ran and the 2022 edition will once again be raising funds for the CAC.

“The CAC is a place of help, hope and healing for child survivors of abuse and neglect,” explained organizers.

Part of the way funds will be raised this year is through a contest to win a Mustang convertible prize car and more details will be available on that soon.

Car registration is now open and advance registration is highly recommended.

Anyone interested in that, making a donation or volunteering at this year’s event is urged to check out the Boyd website.
