Dozens of competitors from across the province will descend on Kelowna for the 47th annual BC Armwrestling Championships this weekend.
The event will take place at the Royal Anne Hotel downtown, starting at noon on Sunday with weigh-ins on Saturday night and Sunday morning.
Competitors will be looking to earn the title of best in the province and also secure a spot on Team BC for the Canadian Championships in Nova Scotia this summer.
Between 100-150 people from all corners of BC are expected to compete.
There are 18 weight classes spread across four different divisions for both right and left arms.
Six of them are a part of the pro division, which includes five men’s weight classes and an open women’s division.
There are also several weight classes spread across the amateur adult (18-39 years old), masters (40-49) and grand-masters (50 and up) divisions.
While the pro division is only for BC residents, the amateur divisions are open to anyone and everyone.
There’s also a youth competition for boys and girls between the ages of six and 17, but they must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
You can expect awards for the top three armwrestlers in every class and some great battles along the way.
