Traffic was slowed on Hwy 97 near Kelowna International Airport on Wednesday after a small home fell off its trailer.
The incident happened shortly before 8 am and the house sat in one of the two southbound lanes for several hours until it was hauled away in the mid-afternoon.
As you might expect, photos of the house in the middle of Hwy 97 drew a range of comments online, with some making light of the situation and others criticizing the transport company.
Late Wednesday afternoon, the transport company in question took to social media to shed light on the apparent road rage incident that led to the house coming off its trailer.

According to a post from Edmonton-based DBI Transport, the company’s driver reported that the truck was passed by a one-ton flatbed as the vehicles drove around Ellison (Duck) Lake.
As that happened, a piece of drywall allegedly flew out of the back of the one-ton truck and struck the sedan driving behind.
“This event led to a road rage game of cat and mouse in front of our driver who did his best to maintain distance until both vehicles ended up in his lane and came to a complete stop,” the post explained.
“While trying to avoid hitting these vehicles on the highway, our driver took evasive action and performed a hard brake application,” the post continued.
“The force of the braking application caused the brackets on the underside of the modular to fail, therefore allowing the dolly to slide out from the back of the load and ending up where he did.”
The DBI Transport explanation said that both of the other vehicles left the scene and the company worked to move the small home off the highway under the direction of WorkSafeBC.
“We stand behind the actions taken by our driver to ensure nobody was injured in the events that occurred in front of him,” the post stated. “We apologize for the significant travel delays encountered in the area today.”
DBI Transport is urging anyone who recognizes either the one-ton truck or sedan in the video to contact the Kelowna RCMP.
The RCMP says it's investigating "multiple infractions under the Motor Vehicle Act" connected to the incident.
Police are encouraging anyone who witnessed the incident, or has relevant dash cam footage from the area around that time on Wednesday, to call the detachment at 250-762-3300 and quote file number 2025-32644.
