The date is official, ‘Paws head coach, Jose Bautista, will make his debut with the team on May 31, 2024.
The 2024 West Coast League (WCL) season has been unveiled and the league’s aspirations are big after last year’s record-breaking season attendance.
"The West Coast League continues to grow and thrive and we're thrilled to announce the 2024 schedule,” said WCL Commissioner Rob Neyer.
“With 16 dynamic teams competing, this season promises to be our best yet, as we build upon 2023's record-setting attendance."
2024 will mark the WCL’s 20th year and third year with 16 teams, including the Kamloops NorthPaws' third season.
The NorthPaws and their newest head coach, Jose Bautista, along with incoming pitching coach, TC Fairfield, will make their debut against the Victoria HarbourCats at home.
The ‘Paws will then take a day off and begin another three-game home stand, this time against the Bellingham Bells.
This will be the first season a ‘Paws player can make an appearance in the WCL All-Star game, as the special event makes its return for the first time since pre-pandemic.
"The WCL All-Star Game is a true showcase of the league's finest talents," added Neyer.
"And we're excited to bring this fan-favourite event back to the schedule."
The all-star game is scheduled to be held on July 17, 2024, and more details will be released in the future.
For now, the NorthPaws will continue to prepare for the upcoming season as the team is assembled.
