Although the Penticton Vees are currently fighting for their life in a BCHL playoff series, the club is less than four months away from taking the ice for its first WHL preseason game.
That means they’ll need to put together the roster, which started today as the results of the 2025 WHL expansion draft were announced.
Penticton selected one player from 13 WHL clubs and agreed to trades with seven others, which produced several more players and draft picks.
The Medicine Hat Tigers and Spokane Chiefs have been granted an extension while they participate in the 2025 WHL championship series.
The losing team will submit its protected list to the league on the second day after being eliminated, while the winner won’t have to do so until after the Memorial Cup.
Penticton also acquired nine other players and a pair of fifth-round draft picks, from Kelowna and Vancouver, in the aforementioned trades.
