The Kamloops Blazers were busy in the first round of the WHL draft on Wednesday as they made a pair of selections.
With the 11th overall pick, the Blazers selected defenceman Mateo Ferreira.
Ferreira spent this past season with the Winnipeg Bruins U15 AAA Gold squad.
The 2010-born defenceman tallied 21 goals and 49 assists in 32 games played.
On top of his 70 points, Ferreira had 13 points in 11 playoff games with the Bruins.
A few picks later, the Blazers were back on the clock and selected Teagen Bouchard with the 14th overall pick.
Bouchard played this past season with the Northern Alberta Xtreme (NAX) U15 Prep squad of the Canadian Sport School Hockey League.
The forward had 21 goals and 40 assists in 30 games at the U15 level. Bouchard also appeared in three games with the NAX U18 team and added three points.
