Kamloops' Brooke Wills takes 1st place in Ladies Barrels at Canadian Finals Rodeo

The Canadian Finals Rodeo was in Red Deer Alberta last week and featured some of the top cowboys and cowgirls from the continent.

Kamloops' competitors were not to be excluded as multiple local athletes took home awards and prizes.

In the Ladies Barrel Racing, Brooke Wills finished first-place with a time of 14.223 seconds in her fourth attempt. In her sixth attempt, Wills finished with a time of 14.251, the second-fastest time in the competition. Wills' CFR win earned her $34,020, over $5,000 more than she earned during the regular season.

In addition to Wills, Chase's Lincoln Yarama and former Kamloops resident Carson Weaver took first for the Rising Stars Team Roping event on Saturday.
