Kamloops paddlers dominate with 60 medals at BC Summer Games

Over the weekend, the 2022 BC Summer Games commenced in Prince George.

It was the first time in three years that the games returned, due to COVID causing numerous postponements. This year's showcase featured over 3,000 of the province’s top athletes competing in an array of different sports.

The Kamloops Canoe Kayak Club (KCKC) sent 12 athletes to the game, representing Thompson Okanagan Zone 2.

They subsequently dominated, claiming 60 of the 99 Zone 2 medals that were available.

Kamloops and Zone 2 coaches Abigail Donaldon and Aiden Tabata were very pleased with the KCKC’s club’s performance.

“Our Zone 2 athletes not only showed that they can bring home results,” said Tabata. “They showed that they can be humble in victory and gracious in defeat. I couldn't be happier, and am very proud to be their coach.”

Myana Fenrich - 1st K2 500 LtoT, 3rd K1 200m LtoT, 1st K2 200m Mixed, 2nd K4 500m Open, 2nd C4 500m.
