A Kamloops pickle player has announced she will be competing in the Canadian National Pickleball League (CNPL).
Casey Rodgers will be competing in gender doubles, mixed doubles and singles matches.
"I'm thrilled to be joining the CNPL and competing against some of the best pickleball players across Canada," said Rodgers.
"I'm also excited about helping grow the sport and encouraging more people to pick up a paddle and play."
The CNPL is set to begin its inaugural season this summer and will be the first professional pickleball league in Canada.
Players will be competing with and against the best players from across the country, with the goal of winning the cash prizes that are at stake
Rodgers is a top-ranked pickleball player, peaking in the Canadian ranks at number two, and has won two gold medals at the Canadian National Championships.
Her home club is the Kamloops Pickleball Club, where she first started playing and has since developed into one of Canada’s best.
Rodgers will be competing in the Kamloops Open tournament, June 9-11 at Riverside Park, which will feature nine other CNPL athletes. That includes local pro and pickleball entrepreneur Brett Forsythe, founder of Poach Pickleball.
Registration is open for the tournament and can be done so on the Kamloops Pickleball Club website.
