The Memorial Cup schedule is now locked in.
The Chicoutimi Saguenéens defeated the Moncton Wildcats 5-1 in game six of the QMJHL championship series tonight.
It gave Chicoutimi a 4-2 series win and the franchise’s first Gilles-Courteau Trophy since 1994, officially putting an end to the QMJHL’s longest active title drought at 32 years.

The Saguenéens are the final team to secure a berth in the Memorial Cup, two days after the Everett Silvertips won the WHL title and five days after the Kitchener Rangers won the OHL title.
The Kelowna Rockets, of course, have been locked into the tournament since being named the host team in November 2024.
All the on-ice action gets underway Friday with the first of six round robin games and a potential tiebreaker that will decide the three teams moving onto the knockout stage.
