The excitement is still fresh for the St Ann’s Academy (SAA) senior boys and girls volleyball teams after medaling at the provincial volleyball championships for the first time.
Both teams compete in the A division and were at their respective provincial championships over the Dec. 2 weekend.
After appearing at the season-ending event multiple times, the boys team had never medalled.
That all changed as SAA defeated Vancouver Christian in the bronze medal match to return home with a souvenir.
Nash Pearce was named a second-team all-star and Ryder Litke was honoured as a first-team all-star.
The girls team was in the Castlegar and Nelson for their provincial championship, making their second-ever appearance at the tournament.
After a tough loss to Unity Christian in the semi-finals, SAA bounced back and defeated Immaculata in the bronze medal game.
The win marked a historic weekend for the school as both teams had won their first-ever provincial volleyball medals.
Maggie Pearce and Morgan Eichenberger were both named second-team all-stars after the win.
