The wait is nearly over, with BCHL teams scheduled to be back on the ice on Sept. 20 to commence the 2024-25 season.
Announced on Thursday, all 21 teams will play 54 regular season games this upcoming season, with 91% of the matches scheduled for prime night games on Fridays, Saturdays or team-preferred holiday dates.
“2024-25 is set to be a monumental season for the BCHL, in more ways than one,” said Commissioner Steven Cocker.
“The full integration of our five new members, soon-to-be-announced event alliances and an elite group of incoming athletes are going to set the stage for an incredible year.”
With the addition of five Alberta-based teams and the subtraction of the Merritt Centennials, there were changes to the divisional alignments.
The first Alberta versus BC matchup will occur on opening night, with the Penticton Vees facing the Spruce Grove Saints.
“2023-24 saw league attendance increase by 8.1% year-over-year and, with our amount of prime-night games hitting a historic high, we expect continued excitement in BCHL communities,” added Cocker.
The BCHL Showcase, All-Star Weekend and Road Show locations and dates will be announced shortly.
