The Okanagan is once again set to host some action-packed hockey as teams from across the country converge in Vernon for the 2024 Esso Cup this weekend.
The Canadian Women’s U18 National Club Championship will comprise five regional champions and the host team, the Thompson-Okanagan Lakers, for a week of matches.
The other five teams competing at the event include the Edmonton Jr. Oilers (Pacific), Northern Selects (Atlantic), North York Storm (Ontario), l’Intrépide de l’Outaouais (Quebec) and Regina Rebels (West).
The action gets underway on Sunday and will run until next Saturday, with the gold medal game being broadcast on TSN/RDS.

This is the second time the event has been hosted in BC in its 15-year history, with the last time being in Burnaby in 2013.
The net profits from the event will stay in the region, with 50% of which will help to create a Thompson-Okanagan Lakers post-secondary scholarship fund and the other half going towards the creation of a fund to support girls' hockey in the region.
