No clues so far in search for missing BC man: SAR

Search teams are once again out looking for any sign of a man missing since the morning of June 30, 2024 on Vancouver Island.

Nicholas Marion, age 38, went missing after leaving a friend’s home in Youbou on Sunday morning at around 6:30 am. Police said he is not familiar with the area, as he was just visiting for the long weekend.

The last confirmed sighting of Marion was July 1.

Cowichan Search and Rescue (SAR) has searched the nearby Pine Point Campground and surrounding areas. Volunteer civilian searchers are also lending a hand.

Today, SAR continues to search with assistance from other teams from around the Island, totalling roughly 36 people.

Despite extensive efforts by SAR and community volunteers since, the search has not resulted in any clues so far.

Residents in the area were asked to help out by checking around their properties, including in shed, under tarps, in boats and outbuildings for any sign of the missing man.

Civilian searchers are being asked to send GSP tracks to the rescue organization via email ([email protected]) to help better organize the search.
