Tickets for the 2023 Hometown Heroes Lottery are now on sale and there are some incredible homes across British Columbia up for grabs.
They will be available until July 13 or until sold out for a cost of $75 for three, $125 for seven, $300 for 21 and $500 for 40.
Held annually in the spring, the lottery raises important funds for the VGH and UBC Hospital Foundation, as well as the BC Professional Fire Fighters’ Burn Fund.
"The funds from the Hometown Heroes Lottery help to ensure that medical teams at VGH, UBC Hospital and many other health care centres under our umbrella have the cutting-edge tools and equipment they need to save lives,” explained Angela Chapman, president and CEO of the VGH and UBC Hospital Foundation.
Jeff Sauvé, executive director of the BC Professional Fire Fighters’ Burn Fund, says the lottery helps fund vital services, empowering programs and enhanced care for burn survivors.
“The Burn Fund depends on funds raised by the Hometown Heroes Lottery to support burn survivors across the province, both physically and emotionally, and we can only do this because of the extreme generosity of British Columbians,” he noted.
There are 10 grand prizes in the 2023 Hometown Heroes Lottery, which include nine incredible homes throughout BC along with the option of $2.2 million in tax-free cash.
Of the nine homes, two are located on Vancouver Island, five are scattered throughout the Lower Mainland and a pair are nestled on the shores of Okanagan Lake.
The Skywater Movala package is a two-bedroom, two-bathroom, 1,380 sq. ft. home along Lakeshore Road in Kelowna, along with a 2023 Audi e-tron Progressiv and $1 million in cash.
Across the bridge, the Waterfront at Westrich Bay package includes a larger 3,511 sq. ft. home on Old Ferry Road in West Kelowna, which has three bedrooms, four bathrooms and a private rooftop terrace with a hot tub.
It comes with a 2023 Crownline 200SS boat, a two-year private marine moorage and $25,000 cash.
Both Central Okanagan prize packages are worth $2.4 million.
The grand prizes aren’t the only things up for grabs in the Hometown Heroes Lottery though, as there is also a 50/50 that could see the winner take home up to $1.2 million.
Tickets are sold separately for that, as is the case for the daily cash plus games that feature 105 days of winning and $325,000 in total cash to be won.
Finally, to encourage people to get their tickets early, there are 51 early bird prizes worth over $145,000 and thousands of smaller prizes to be won in this year’s main lottery.
