The Gambler 500 BC has been gaining the attention of off-roading enthusiasts since 2018.
This GPS navigational challenge brings people out of town, and into the back roads of the Okanagan to drive around for two days in cheap and impractical vehicles.
It’s based around the off-road rally race that takes place in Oregon, where participants gas up beater cars and set off on a backroad adventure in the middle of nowhere.
As for the Gambler 500 BC, not only do you rip around dirt roads for the weekend but it doubles as an environmental clean-up, as participants are encouraged to pick up any trash encountered on their route.
For its 2022 event, Gambler 500 BC is excited to announce that they have partnered with Thunder Mountain Speedway, a 1/8 mile dragstrip located about 40km southeast of Kelowna, to make it their most epic event yet.
To top it off, they’re adding a tug-o-war competition, a burnout contest, a food truck, camping, mud bogs, and live music.
Admission for the event is cash only and costs $40 per person, which covers the cost of track rental, facilities and insurance.
Those arriving in their junkyard clunkers are encouraged to decorate their vehicles and wear costumes to make the weekend even more exciting.
Participants will require a valid driver’s license and vehicle registration upon arrival, otherwise, you can kiss your dreams of rallying goodbye.
As of now, the 2022 Gamblert 500 BC page has confirmed over 200 people to attend on May 27-29, with another 400 interested.
