A young Penticton man who was overheard threatening his former girlfriend with grievous bodily harm during an argument will return to court in two months to see what his punishment will be.
Caleb McGregor, who is in his mid-20s, plead guilty to one count of uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm Thursday morning at the Penticton Courthouse.
Court heard that on Oct. 13, 2025, McGregor and his girlfriend got into a verbal argument, which was overheard by the girl’s roommate.
The roommate overheard McGregor threaten the women, using the words “I’m going to break your f…ing neck.”
McGregor, through his lawyer, Michael Kennedy, agreed he did utter that threat and use those words before pleading guilty.
McGregor was scheduled to go on trial facing two counts of assault and uttering threats, but both counts of assault were stayed by Crown Attorney Andrew Vandersluys following McGregor’s guilty plea.
Vandersluys told the court McGregor had no previous criminal record, so he agreed with Kennedy that a pre-sentence report should be prepared before a sentence is imposed.
McGregor, who stands just over five feet tall and appeared to weigh under 120 pounds, will remain free on bail until his sentencing hearing.
Justice Tina-Marie Bradford agreed and ordered a pre-sentence report be prepared.
This matter will return to court on June 23 to determine the status of the pre-sentence report and to set a final date for sentencing.
