Valerie Hoath’s retirement plans just got a serious glow-up.
The Vernon resident scored a life-changing $500,000 Extra prize from the Lotto 6/49 draw on July 19.
The recent retiree was shopping at Save-On-Foods when she decided to use the self-scanner to check her ticket.
“I thought the machine was lying,” Hoath explained. “I think I was in shock!”
She says she’s still in shock and the win “feels unreal.”
The first people Hoath shared the good news with were her children, who were in just as much shock and thought she was kidding.
Hoath is excited to use the money to travel during retirement and already has an idea of where she wants to go.
“I’m thinking of going to Disneyland, Hawaii or Mexico,” she said.
The winning ticket was purchased at the Real Canadian Superstore on Anderson Way in Vernon.
