Police have confirmed that a multi-vehicle crash that closed Hwy 3 in Keremeos for several hours on Wednesday was fatal.
According to police, four adults of an extended family, who were all in the same vehicle, were declared dead at the scene of the crash on Hwy 3 near Becks Road.
The RCMP has not provided many details about the crash, but said it involved two cars and a tractor trailer.
The occupants of the other car and the tractor trailer all escaped the incident uninjured.
“This is a terrible tragedy. Our condolences go out to the family and friends of the deceased,” said Sgt. Jason Bayda.
“During this time of year, we see a significant increase of traffic incidents on our roadways. Police are reminding everyone to slow down and remain alert to your surroundings.”
Wednesday’s fatal crash, which happened around 11:30 am, shut down Hwy 3 through Keremeos for around eight hours.
The cause of the collision remains under investigation and police will not be releasing any further details at this time.
