BC SPCA looking for help after receiving dog with a gunshot wound

The BC SPCA North Cariboo District Branch is looking to the public for help after receiving a dog with a gunshot wound.

According to the branch, Luna is severely emaciated and still recovering from surgery. Currently, there is an open cruelty investigation into Luna's case.

Luna was brought to the SPCA after Prince George residents saw her wandering along Blackwater Road. Local animal control officers provided a live trap and an SPCA special provincial constable monitored it several times a day until she was caught.

“Luna had been walking around for days with half of her jaw missing due to a gunshot wound. She immediately went in for emergency reconstructive surgery,” said SPCA North Cariboo District animal centre services manager Alex Schare. “Luna is a playful young dog with a remarkable amount of energy despite her injuries and weakened state."

The three-year-old pup's X-rays, surgery, vaccinations, medication, and follow-up is expected to cost $3,230. Those looking to help Luna can do so by donating through here.

Luna is currently recovering in Prince George foster home.
