A man has been charged after stealing a vehicle in Prince George on Tuesday.
According to police, at approximately 6:45 p.m., officers received a report that a vehicle was stolen near the intersection of 14th Avenue and Irwin Street. The vehicle stolen had its window left down with the keys still inside.
On Wednesday, police received information that the vehicle was parked on the 500 block of Central Street West. The detachment's Street Crew Unit was called to assist, but the vehicle departed before an arrest could be made.
On Thursday, at approximately 11 a.m., officers located the vehicle driving in an alleyway near the 4300 block of 1st Avenue. The driver made attempts to exit the alley but was quickly surrounded by police. After attempting to flee on foot, the male driver was apprehended and taken into custody, along with a passenger he was with.
The BC Prosecution Service approved four charges against Leonard Earl Prince, a Prince George resident. Those charges include Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Failure to stop for Police, Resisting Arrest, and Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000.
Prince was held overnight and will appear in court later today. The passenger was released without charge.
