Prince George RCMP had to play the waiting game on Sunday as officers were involved in a chase with a stolen vehicle.
Just before 2:30 p.m., Quesnel RCMP received a report of a stolen pick-up from a parking lot of a business in the community. An attempt was made to stop the vehicle but it got away.
Prince George RCMP, with the assistance of the RCMP's Air 3 helicopter, located the vehicle near Red Rock B.C., 30 kilometres outside of the city.
After the driver refused to stop again, the vehicle was tracked into Prince George.
Before 4 p.m., multiple General Duty officers intercepted the vehicle near the southwest end of Massey Drive. While attempting to evade the police, a crash occurred between the vehicle and an unmarked police car. The driver was arrested without incident where alcohol was determined to be a factor.
After a brief stint at the hospital, the suspect was held in custody overnight before he will appear in court today. Eric Roger Johnson, a 27-year-old Quesnel resident, has been charged with theft of a motor vehicle, dangerous operations of a motor vehicle, impaired driving, assaulting a peace officer with a weapon, failure to stop for police, and more.
Anyone with any more information on Johnson is asked to contact the Prince George RCMP at 250-561-3300.
