Residents in northeastern BC experienced a rare weather alert on Canada Day.
A tornado warning was issued shortly before 8:30 pm.
According to the alert, Environment Canada meteorologists were tracking a severe thunderstorm that held the possibility of producing a tornado.
“Damaging winds, large hail and locally intense rainfall are also possible,” the alert said.

People who received the alert, which was targeted to the east of Prince George, were advised to take cover immediately.
Fortunately, the warning only lasted about 11 minutes and there were no reports of a tornado touching down.
However, several residents in the area managed to capture pictures of the menacing weather that was in the area Tuesday night.
As of Wednesday afternoon, Prince George remains under a severe thunderstorm watch.
