An alcohol-fueled incident at a hockey rink on Saturday had Osoyoos RCMP breaking up a group of parents, with many from the Okanagan.
On April 2, officers from the detachment responded to a full out brawl at the Sun Bowl Arena.
According to police, numerous parents had broken out into a large fight in the stands.
The hockey game, between two teams of 10-year-olds, including the New Western Bruins out of Langley and the BC Interior Stars out Vernon, Kelowna, West Kelowna, Summerland and Penticton, had just ended when the fight between parents got started.
RCMP say the parents were staying at a local resort, where they had been drinking alcohol throughout the day and before going to the arena. In fact, the resort had to call in extra security because of the parents.
Both sides said the others were yelling insults before the fight broke out, but alcohol is believed to have played a large factor.
One woman even broke her nose in the fight and other minor injuries were also reported.
“It is unfortunate that these young children had to witness their parents act in such an immature way,” said the RCMP in a statement.
