Officers arrived to find the driver alone in the vehicle, unconscious and suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

He was transported to hospital but succumbed to his injuries.

The victim has been identified as Christopher Jung, 73, of Toronto.

A suspect was identified, and a Canada-wide warrant was issued for his arrest.

On Jan. 28, 2022, the Saanich Police Street Crime Unit was involved in an investigation that resulted in the arrest of four men in a vehicle in which a firearm was also seized.

One of the four men was the 17-year-old suspect.

Members of the Toronto Police Homicide Squad travelled to BC and took custody of the suspect. He was returned to Toronto where he faces a second degree murder charge.
