Investigators have identified a 22-year-old woman from Pemberton as the victim in a recent suspicious death in the small community.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) has taken over the investigation in the death of Tabitha Peters.

Authorities said that on Feb. 22, 2025 at 10 am, Pemberton RCMP responded to a report of an unresponsive woman in the 7400 block of Prospect Street.

First responders, including paramedics, attended but sadly the woman was declared dead on the scene.

IHIT said they decided to identify the victim in the hopes of advancing the investigation. Investigators added that initial evidence suggests this was an isolated incident with no ongoing risk to the public.

“We are in the beginning stages of our investigation,” says Cpl. Esther Tupper of IHIT. “We’re asking anyone with information to please come forward.”

Anyone with information regarding the investigation is asked to contact the IHIT Information Line at 1-877-551-IHIT (4448) or by email at [email protected].
