4th annual BC Trails Day returns on the first weekend of June

Dates have been announced for the fourth annual BC Trails Day.

On Saturday June 1, British Columbians will be able to participate in events that celebrate the province’s extensive outdoor recreation network as well as the stewardship efforts that go into protecting and maintaining it.

"BC Trails Day is more than just a celebration of our province's outdoor playgrounds; it’s also an opportunity to raise awareness about the ongoing efforts to protect and preserve the province's trail systems," says Soraya Olszewski of the Outdoor Recreation Council of BC in a news release.

"By fostering a sense of stewardship and responsibility among trail users, we hope to ensure that these valuable resources are accessible and enjoyable for generations to come."

The annual event, which is made possible through the BC Parks Licence Plate program and the provincial government, includes a wide variety of events and activities.

Each event is meant to cater to hikers, mountain bikers, equestrians, sledders and nature lovers of all ages and skill levels, says the news release.

The Outdoor Recreation Council of BC encourages communities and organizations across the province are encouraged to host local events and activities, running from guided hikes, trail maintenance workshops, family-friendly invasive species pulls and educational activities.

Not many events have been registered just yet, but more events will start popping up as the weeks go on.
