Charges have been laid in connection to a double homicide in Langley last week.
First responders were called to a home in the 21000 block of 16 Avenue around 11:15 am on Monday, April 27, and found two people dead inside.
“The two victims were an 18-year-old young woman and a 33-year-old man who resided together at the residence,” explained an update from the Integrated Homicide Investigation Unit (IHIT).
“Police will not be releasing their names at this time out of respect for their families’ privacy, and because it is not needed to further the investigation.”
Thanks to an extensive canvas of the neighbourhood, witness interviews and several leads from the public, investigators were able to quickly identify a suspect.
On Sunday, May 3, 33-year-old Cregg Lafferty-Tuccaro of Alberta was arrested and charged with two counts of second-degree murder.
According to IHIT, Lafferty-Tuccaro has no prior police history in British Columbia and this is believed to have been an isolated incident where the parties were known to each other.
“This was a tragic incident and our hearts break for the victims’ families as they grieve the sudden loss of their loved ones,” stated IHIT Sgt. Freda Fong through a media release.
“Through teamwork and persistence, IHIT investigators gathered the evidence needed to secure charges, which we hope will support the healing of those impacted.”
Lafferty-Tuccaro is being held in custody and is next scheduled to appear in court on May 11.
