UPDATE: Amber alert for two children from northern BC cancelled

(UPDATE: Mar. 26 @ 5:08 pm) – The amber alert that was issued Saturday afternoon has been cancelled.

BC RCMP shared this information with police in neighbouring jurisdictions across the country, who also began their own search efforts. By 3:30pm PT (6:30pm ET) today, the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) confirmed that they had located the vehicle and the four individuals in Kenora, Ontario, just east of Manitoba.

Police say the man was taken into custody.

The mother and her two children are safe and receiving support.

The RCMP thanked our law enforcement partners in Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba and Ontario who where instrumental in finding everyone so quickly.

The investigation remains active and ongoing and the Fort St. John RCMP will work with the OPP to further the investigation.

The suspect remains in custody and the investigation is continuing. Charges are pending.

NowMedia has removed the description, names and pictures of the young children and their mother from the below "original story" out of respect for their privacy.

(Original Story: Mar. 26 @ 12:28 pm) – RCMP in Fort St. John have issued an Amber Alert for two children and their mother who police believe may have been taken by their father.

The police are looking for a four-year-old male and 10-month-old female who are believed to have been abducted and were last seen at 8919 91st Street, Fort St. John.

Police are also looking for the children’s 23-year old mother. They were last seen at 11 am on Mar. 24.

Fort St. John RCMP believe that Jason Dalrymple, 36, has taken the two children and their mother against their will.

According to the alert, the group is possibly travelling in a 2004 olive green Jeep Grand Cerokee with BCLP HT1 84A.

Police believe they may be travelling east to Ontario.

The suspect, Jason Dalrymple, is described as 5’11” with balding light brown hair, a light brown/red moustache or goatee with blue eyes. Police say he often wears hats or touques.

Anyone who sees this vehicle is advised to not approach but to immediately call 911.
