After several weeks of mystery and fear, a man suspected of leaving unsolicited notes for women in the Burnaby area has been arrested.
According to police, “disturbing” handwritten notes or women’s underwear were left for multiple female victims between Sept. 15 and Nov. 3.
The Burnaby RCMP says it happened on eight different dates and times, adding that all of the women live in the area of Telford Avenue and Beresford Street.
“The notes expressed thoughts of a sexual nature and implied that the suspect was watching the victims,” explained a release from the detachment.
On Nov. 6, the RCMP arrested a 20-year-old man for criminal harassment in connection to this case.
While he was released from custody, he’s under several strict conditions that includes being prohibited from contacting the victims or attending any place they’re known to attend.
The suspect must also report to a bail supervisor, the RCMP says.
“I can only imagine the unsettling feeling these women must’ve felt knowing someone was watching them,” said Sgt. Freda Fong. “It was important for us to promptly identify and arrest the individual at the soonest opportunity.”
