Animal shelters across the province are hosting a special adoption fee event for animals who can’t wait to “leap” into their new forever homes.
From Feb. 22 until Mar. 3, in an effort to celebrate the leap year, shelters will be hosting 50% off on adoption fees for all types of animals.
“We want to take advantage of this extra day to help find loving homes for all of the incredible animals in our care,” says Adrienne McBride, the BC SPCA’s senior director of Community Animal Centres.
“Have a look at the adoptable animals on our website and if you find one that you think would be a perfect addition to your home and family, set up a meeting by calling the centre where they are located. You will still need to fill out an adoption application and go through the normal screening process, but you can find out quickly if it is a match.”
The reduced fees apply to dogs, cats, small critters like guinea pigs and rabbits and farm animals like goats and horses.
These types of adoption events have been held in the past to make extra room for more animals in BC SPCA centres and foster homes.
