For ready-to-drink beverage containers up to one litre in size, they’ll now be worth 10 cents instead of five cents.
All containers over one litre in size will stay the same price.
“The announcement is the latest move by Return-It to encourage British Columbians to recycle more containers, with the goal of keeping them out of BC’s landfills and oceans,” says a statement from Return-It.
Uncoincidentally, the changes coincide with National Waste Reduction Week.
While that’s exciting news for when you take those cans and bottles back to the recycling depot, it also means your 12 packs of soda will be going up a few cents in price at the till.
If you've been letting the bags of cans and bottle pile up in the garage, you now have a little more incentive to take them back this weekend!
