BC dump truck company gets 2nd impaired driving bust in 2 months

It's been a little over eight weeks since a BC dump truck driver was issued six violation tickets after the RCMP found them to be allegedly impaired.

Now, a second driver working for the same company has failed a sobriety test just a couple hundred metres away from where the first vehicle was stopped in May.

The Burnaby RCMP said a commercial vehicle enforcement officer was driving behind the loaded dump truck as it travelled southbound.

The officer watched the truck reportedly cross over the centre line and swerve into the right lane several times.

A news release said the truck also hit the raised centre median several times.

The truck was stopped and the officer ordered a sobriety test, which the driver failed.

A 90-day driving prohibition and violation tickets totalling over $1,300 were issued to the driver.

The truck was also impounded for 30 days.

“While we can’t share the company’s name, we have forwarded the details of this incident, linked to the previous incident in May, to the Ministry of Transportation and Transit’s Commercial Vehicle Safety and Enforcement to ensure they have the most up to date information for their investigation of the carrier’s operations,” said Cst. Kevin Connolly with Burnaby RCMP’s Traffic Services.
