If Cheryl Morgan and Suzanne Richard need new instruments, that shouldn’t be an issue now.
The Richmond couple have a band together called Sweet Potatoes and they recently came into a life-changing sum of money after winning a $1-million prize from the Lotto 6/49 draw on March 22.
They were at a local Safeway grabbing groceries when Morgan decided to check the ticket.
“I gave it to the gentleman at the store and it shut down the system,” Morgan recalled.
She quickly ran to find Richard, who was in another aisle shopping for yogurt, to tell her the exciting news.
The BCLC says that neither has told anyone about their exciting win, although the cat may be out of the bag now. They plan on sharing some of their prize with loved ones.
As for how they’ll spoil themselves with the windfall, a trip to Italy is right at the top of their list.
They will also pay off their mortgage and treat themselves to a pair of new cars.
When asked about how it feels to become overnight millionaires, both women said it comes with a sense of calmness and security.
The winning ticket was purchased at Seafair Smoke & Mixer on No. 1 Road in Richmond.
