BC police officer charged with multiple counts of voyeurism

A police officer with the Stl’atl’imx Tribal Police Service (STPS) has been charged with multiple counts of voyeurism.

The Sea to Sky RCMP said that an investigation began in January 2023 after reports were received about a man who had allegedly filmed sexual acts without his partners’ consent.

On Sept. 25, 2024, Michael Philip English, was charged with three counts of voyeurism in connection to offences alleged to have been committed off duty in Pemberton and Vancouver between 2020 and 2022.

There is a publication ban in place to protect the identities of those involved, police noted.

“The Sea to Sky Whistler RCMP wants to acknowledge the individuals who came forward to provide information and were patient through this lengthy investigation,” said Sgt. Jeffrey Shore, NCO i/c Sea to Sky RCMP General Investigation Section.

“Our priority is the safety and well-being of victims, and our team remains committed to standing with them and supporting them through the Court process.”

English’s first appearance in court is scheduled for Oct. 2, 2024 at North Vancouver Provincial Court.

Police have said no additional comments or information will be released as the case is before the courts.
