BC woman, 33, found suffering from ‘severe burns’ in what police call a targeted assault

Police are investigating a weekend assault in Langley that sent a woman to hospital with serious injuries.

Officers responded to the 33-year-old in distress in the 20300 block of Fraser Highway around 6:35 pm on Saturday.

They found the woman suffering from “severe burns,” an RCMP release explained.

She was immediately transported to a local hospital for “urgent medical treatment” and the RCMP did not provide an update on her condition.

“This does not appear to be a random act,” said Sgt. Zynal Sharoom. “We believe the victim was deliberately exposed to an unknown substance, resulting in serious burns consistent with an intentional act.”

Anyone with information regarding the alleged assault is urged to contact Langley RCMP investigators.

Police are specifically interested in talking to anyone in the area at the time of the attack or motorists with relevant nearby dash cam footage from that time.

Witnesses can contact the Langley RCMP by calling 604-532-3200.
