Considered an extreme sport, the Cooper’s Hill Cheese Roll is not for the faint of heart, but that didn’t stop a BC woman from taking the tumble.
The annual event is held at Cooper’s Hill in Brockworth, Gloucester. It attracts people from around the globe who come to chase a Double Gloucester cheese down the 200-yard-long hill.
Delaney Irving, from Nanaimo, won in the women’s category. However she was knocked unconscious during the race, and was out for a period of time.
Video from a radio station in Gloucester shows Irving’s trip down the hill, and the moment she’s knocked out.
🧀 Canadian 🇨🇦 Delaney Irving won’t remember much of winning the Woman’s race at #cheeserolling.

She told the BBC in an interview that, now that she remembers it, the race was great.
"I remember running, then bumping my head, and then I woke up in the tent," she told them. "I still don't really believe it, but it feels great."
As a precaution, she did attend the hospital after the event.
If you want to know more about the cheese race there is a Netflix docu-series, We Are Champions, with an episode focusing on it.
