Child dead after being hit by vehicle in Surrey: police

Police in Surrey are investigating a collision that claimed the life of a child Sunday night.

Officers with the Surrey Police Service responded to reports of a crash between a vehicle and a young pedestrian in the 13800 block of 64 Avenue.

Police say the child didn't survive despite the life-saving efforts from paramedics.

The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation.

Police say the roads and intersections in the vicinity of the crash were likely to be shut down for a significant portion of the night due to the investigation.

Surrey police are asking anyone who witnessed the incident or have any footage to reach out to them.
