(Update: March 25, 2021 @ 1 PM): VicPD have provided an update on a child who was injured yesterday at the pool in Hotel Zed.
The child is still in hospital, and is suffering from life-threatening injuries.
Police were called to the scene at 6 pm last night.
Officers attended, along with BC Emergency Health Services paramedics, and assisted in providing medical aid to the child, including CPR.
Detectives with VicPD’s Investigative Services Division and officers from the Forensic Identification Unit also attended the scene in order to conduct an investigation into the circumstances of this incident.
The investigation remains ongoing, however officers do not believe a criminal act was involved in this tragic incident.

A child was injured yesterday in an incident at Hotel Zed’s pool in downtown Victoria.
The Victoria Police Department said that the child suffered life-threatening injuries and was transported to hospital.
Police said the file is in its early stages, and officers and “supporting the family and investigating.”
Hotel Zed confirmed that the incident occurred at their downtown Victoria location.
“We’re devastated to report that we had an emergency involving a child at the pool at Hotel Zed Victoria this evening. Our hearts are with the child’s family and loved ones right now,” the hotel said.
