A bear spiced up the overnight shift for Vancouver Police officers earlier this week.
Around 1 am on Tuesday, 911 calls started to come in about a black bear wandering around the Commercial Drive neighbourhood.
While waiting for the BC Conservation Officer Service to arrive, police tracked the animal and stepped in when it was getting a little too close to people.
They continued to contain the bear as it moved north up Commercial around 2.5 kilometres from Grandview Highway to Hastings Street.
Eventually, conservation officers arrived at the scene, tranquilized the bear and transported it to North Vancouver.
“Nobody was hurt, the bear slept it off and was released without charges,” quipped a VPD social media post about the incident.
