Dr. Saad Khan is a really good doctor who's really bad at social media.
Be that as it may, his most popular video has been viewed 1.1 million times on Instagram and 925,000 times on TikTok.
"It's my wife (Samantha) who's responsible for all the social media," said Khan.
"She's an occupational therapist who is waiting to find a job and she was bored at home, so she started these Instagram and TikTok accounts (khans.on.the.move) about a mixed-race couple who move from the U.K. to BC."
To West Kelowna, in fact, where Khan is happily working at Westside Medical Associates and is accepting new patients -- something that's rare in this era of severe shortages of family doctors.
The video that got over a million views is titled 'I didn't feel safe in the U.K.'
His wife shot the short, raw and honest video when he arrived home after a shift at an urgent care clinic in Northamptonshire.
In the video he outlines that he's a brown man with an accent from Pakistan who feels unwanted and unsafe in a U.K. with raging anti-immigrant rhetoric.
@khans.on.the.move This started out as a video about why we moved to Canada. Then Saad delivered this. A raw and honest account of how it feels to be an immigrant in the UK right now. Worlds away from the warm welcome we’ve both received from Canadians since moving here a month ago. This wasn’t scripted. He just spoke from the heart. If you’ve felt this way too, we see you. #UKtoCanada #KhansInCanada #KhansOnTheMove #KhansMoveToCanada #GP #NHS #Doctor #BritishGP #Immigrant #Healthcare #AntiRacism #LifeInCanada #FamilyDoctor #LeavingTheUK #WhyWeMoved #POVImmigrant #WeBelongHere #FamilyMedicine #LeavingTheNHS #FamilyPhysician #ImmigrationStory ♬ original sound - Saad & Samantha 🇬🇧✈️🇨🇦
"Work was becoming problematic," said Khan.
"It was predominantly verbal racism from people who are at urgent care because they don't have a family doctor and sometimes their frustration comes out in the form of racism."
In February of this year, Khan saw a Facebook ad for Health Match BC urging doctors, nurses and other healthcare professionals from the U.K. to consider moving to BC.
"To be honest with you, I knew British Columbia was a Canadian province, but I didn't know exactly where it was," he said with a laugh.
"We landed first in Toronto and had a look and then continued to Alberta and had a look. And then we were coming to Kelowna and my wife saw it from the plane window and told me this is where we'll move."
He accepted a job at Westside Medical Associates, it took a few months for all the paperwork to go through and then the couple moved to West Kelowna in July.
The khans.on.the.move Instagram and TikTok accounts were created by Samantha to specifically chronicle the run up to their move to Canada, the move itself and then now they are settling into West Kelowna as newlyweds.
The 'I didn't feel safe in the U.K.' video was so powerful and generated so many comments that another video 'Canada vs. the U.K.' was shot based on the comments.
"It really showed the difference in attitude," said Khan.
"The comments from people in Canada were all welcoming and then there were a lot of haters from Britain."
It's that mix from both Canada and the U.K. (regardless of whether they're actually fans or not) that's bumped up khans.on.the.move number of followers to 15,400 on Instagram and 10,400 on TikTok.

The rest of the videos on their social media are much more light hearted, profiling what the couple is doing as newcomers to the Okanagan.
They had to go car shopping and start driving on the other side of the road.
They went to Dairy Queen and discovered the Blizzard --pumpkin pie for her and caramel toffee cookie for him.
There's the hilarious slow-motion video titled 'Baywatch: GP edition' of Khan running into Kalamalka Lake wearing nothing but board shorts and a stethoscope.
"I don't even know how to swim," he said with a laugh.
"I'm a guy from Pakistan who grew up 1,000 kilometres from the nearest body of water."
On that same foray to the lake, Samantha put him in a life jacket and took him out for his first paddleboard ride.
Oh yes, there was also the 'Bears, maple syrup and wildfires' video.
"Three things we don't have in the U.K.," said Khan.
"So, we were fascinated."
Before Khan worked in the U.K. from 2016 to mid-2025, he had a five-year stint in Qatar.
"This is it for the moving now," he said.
"We love BC and we're definitely going to stay here. I'm building my list of patients and we're loving life."
Khan is the 7th U.K.-trained family doctor to make the move to Westside Medical Associates in West Kelowna.
Two more are on the way and Khan said he's "90% convinced" his younger brother, who's also a doctor, to join him at Westside Medical Associates.
