When Sim Chua went to a lotto kiosk to check his tickets at the mall in his hometown of Mackenzie, the woman who was working at the time foreshadowed what was to come.
“Before scanning, she was telling me about how someone won $1 million in Mackenzie,” Chua explained. “Then she scanned the ticket and then said, ‘Hey, it’s you!’”
His ticket from the Lotto 6/49 draw on May 14 produced a life-changing win, and Chua was most excited to share the news with his sister.
“She was just screaming so much on the phone,” he said. “She couldn’t believe it!”
And Chua knows exactly how he wants to start spending his winnings.
He plans to buy a new car and take a trip to Alaska “to do some fly fishing,” which he calls his “dream trip.”
As for how it feels to be an instant millionaire, Chua admitted that he doesn’t know what to do with himself and it still doesn’t feel real.
