UPDATE: Jason Botchford GoFundMe surpasses $100K goal in 1 week

(UPDATE: May 10 @ 8:30 a.m.) - Jason Botchford had a huge impact on sports fans across British Columbia and the response to a GoFundMe set up in his name certainly proves that.

In just a week, the GoFundMe campaign has surpassed its $100,000 goal thanks to donations from more than 1,600 people.

The money will go to his family, who's left without a father and husband after the popular sports journalist died unexpectedly in April.

Although the goal has been reached, you can still donate to the GoFundMe if you'd like, which you can do by clicking this link.

All of the funds will go towards his wife Kathryn and the couple's three kids, Sienna (8), Keira (6) and Hudson (3), covering a variety of expenses including an education fund for the children.

There are many different ways to do so and one is through a GoFundMe created to support Botchford’s young family.

After passing away unexpectedly, the 48-year-old left behind his wife Kathryn and their three children, Sienna (8), Keira (6) and Hudson (3).

“We know many people have been impacted by Jason's incredible life and want to help his family,” reads the GoFundMe description.

“The funds raised will go to Kathryn and their three young children, to be used for various expenses, including an education fund for the children.”

The support has been overwhelming so far, as nearly $50,000 has been donated in just 17 hours.

Not only will this money go a long way, but the family says the Twitter comments and radio call-ins from fans of Botchford has brought a lot of comfort as well.

"We are deeply touched by the overwhelming support from friends, family and fans.”
