International Roadcheck: 84 commercial vehicles pulled off Lower Mainland roads in 3 days

The 2025 edition of International Roadcheck was held across North America earlier this month.

The three-day event sees certified inspectors conduct compliance, enforcement and education initiatives focused on commercial motor vehicle safety.

In the Lower Mainland, checks were set up in Burnaby on May 13, New Westminster on May 14 and Surrey on May 15, and the results were fruitful.

Over the three days of enforcement, officers identified 375 violations and issued 195 tickets, while 84 commercial vehicles were pulled off the road and placed out of service.

“Road safety affects everyone and it is of immense importance for every community these agencies represent,” said Cst. Kevin Connolly, the Burnaby RCMP’s designated commercial vehicle inspector.

“We will continue to ensure the safety of everyone on our roads by conducting regular checks like this throughout the year and throughout the Lower Mainland.”

  • Burnaby RCMP
  • BC Highway Patrol
  • Coquitlam RCMP
  • Delta Police
