It’s been a deadly summer on British Columbia highways and investigators are trying to piece together the details of several fatal crashes.
Today, the BC Highway Patrol (BCHP) put out a public plea in hopes of advancing the probes into four collisions that have claimed lives since the start of July.

Investigators are hoping to acquire witness reports or dash cam footage from the following crashes, along with the lead-up to the incidents:
- Crash between truck and semi on Hwy 6 near Nakusp that killed four people on Friday, July 5. Investigators searching for witnesses and footage between Hills and Summit Lake between 5-6 pm that day. Contact: BCHP Nelson at 250-354-5180.
- Mysterious overnight hit-and-run on Hwy 1 near Hope that claimed the life of a pedestrian on Monday, July 29. Investigators searching for witnesses and footage in the area of Exit 165 between midnight and 1 am that day. Contact: BCHP Chilliwack at 604-702-4039.
- Six-vehicle crash that killed a mother and her son on Hwy 1 through Chilliwack on Tuesday, Aug. 6. Investigators searching for witnesses and footage between Langley and Vedder Canal Bridge in Chilliwack between 1:30-2:35 pm that day. Contact: Travis Singh with BCHP Chilliwack at 604-702-4039 or [email protected].
- Pedestrian killed after being hit by a vehicle on Hwy 97 near Dawson Way in northern BC early in the morning of Sunday, Aug. 11. Investigators searching for witnesses and footage from the area between 2-4 am that day. Contact: BCHP Fort Nelson at 250-774-3883.
“We need to find out what happened to our victims and bring closure to the families,” said BCHP Cpl. Melissa Jongema. “Even the smallest piece of information matters.”
Jongema encouraged anyone who was travelling through those areas at that time to download their dash cam footage, even if they don’t think it’s relevant.
