Lost dog finally found after 3 weeks missing in the BC wilderness

An Abbotsford family has been reunited with their family pet after what was surely a stressful and difficult three weeks.

Mordecai (Mordy), a white labradoodle, went missing in Princeton on Aug. 26 during a quick pit stop as a family member was returning with him from Penticton.

The Palfrey family searched Princeton for three days, but they were forced to return home empty handed on Aug. 29.

That wasn’t the end of the search, however, as the family made multiple trips up from Abbotsford to look for their missing dog.

As a community, Princeton offered their support in every way they could and everyone came together through a Facebook group ‘Princeton BC & Area Issues’ to help out.

Mordy was spotted a number of times but people were unable to apprehend the loose dog as he’s quite skittish and wouldn’t let anyone get close.

On Sunday, the news everyone had been waiting for finally arrived.

“We are on our way to pick up our Mordy,” wrote Angie Palfrey on Facebook. “We knew this day would come! Many thanks are on their way!”

Palfrey added to that with a separate post, once again applauding the community of Princeton for the “seemingly limitless love” the family received while searching for Mordy.

The post regarding Mordy’s safe return home received over 500 likes and nearly 250 comments from relieved dog lovers who were following along with the search.
