Man dies after colliding with tree at BC ski resort

An adult man has died after an accident at Sun Peaks Resort outside of Kamloops.

In a statement posted to social media, the resort said the male died from his injuries after a collision with a tree on March 21.

“While enjoying the mountain environment is not without risk, events of this nature are rare and we strive to provide a safe environment for everyone,” wrote the Sun Peaks Resort management team.

“At this time, our focus is supporting those in need, including our employees who attended to the injured guest and have been involved with this situation.”

Of the few details shared by the resort, the incident is said to have taken place on a beginner trail on Mount Morrisey.

“Our thoughts are with everyone affected during this incredibly difficult time,” added the statement.

“And our heartfelt condolences go out to the family and friends of this individual.”
