A guilty plea has been made in connection to a fatal stabbing outside a Lower Mainland pub last winter.
Timothy Vansnick, 33, pleaded guilty to manslaughter in Port Coquitlam Law Courts on Tuesday and will be sentenced in the same place in early December.
The incident happened outside the John B Pub at 1000 Austin Ave. around 9:40 pm on Jan. 31, 2025.
First responders were called to the scene for a report of a fight and arrived to find bystanders providing first aid to a man who was suffering from a life-threatening stab wound.
Despite the best efforts of paramedics, the 35-year-old died at the scene.
“The entering of a guilty plea is a significant step in the court process,” said Sgt. Freda Fong of the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team. “As we await sentencing, our thoughts are with the victim’s family, friends and those who were impacted by this tragic death.”
Vansnick was originally charged with second-degree murder the day after the incident, but the charge was changed to manslaughter as a result of the IHIT investigation.
