An unruly customer pleaded guilty March 18 to spitting at a Bank of Montreal employee in late 2024 after she declined to complete a transaction.
Daniel William Crosby, 65, appeared before Judge Charles Hutchinson in Prince George Provincial Court.
According to an agreed statement of facts, Crosby went to the bank on Dec. 21, 2024, after he could not withdraw funds using his automated teller machine card. When the employee said she was unable to fulfil his request, Crosby became upset and she asked him to leave.
He leaned forward and spat in her direction and his saliva landed on her.
While Crosby said he did not intend for his spit to land on the manager, he admitted his actions were reckless and that the act satisfied the element of intent.
Crosby also pleaded guilty to violating a term of his probation.
Police arrested him on Aug. 10, 2025, for break and enter and they seized a screwdriver.
A Nov. 6, 2024, order from Judge David Simpkin forbade Crosby from possessing a screwdriver outside his residence. Simpkin’s order was part of a mischief conviction sentence to a conditional discharge with one-year probation and a $1,500 restitution order.
The spitting and screwdriver case was adjourned to June 24, after Hutchinson ordered psychiatric and psychological risk assessments.
